SIMI SINGAPORE MUSIC?!

Simi Singapore Music?! is a project that uses knowledge about the music created in SIngapore to portray our culture and society. At the same time, it attempts to make Singaporeans feel that local music has something close to heart to offer. Songs about Singapore doesn’t necessarily just mean National Day songs!

The three main topics are songs about:
- Life in Singapore
- Places in Singapore
- Social Commentaries

The zine introduces some bands/solo artistes and the songs they write that are relevant to SG. There is a QR code on each page that links to the musician’s Facebook page & the featured songs so people can listen to it immediately.

Also, there are 3 DVDs that represent each topic, each containing an interview about a featured song and the story behind it.

Watch the videos here

Project is currently exhibited at the ADM SHOW at Old School, Mt. Sophia until 6 May.

sign language.

my teacher says some ppl misunderstand ppl who are deaf/mute to be both.

‘i think i’m not both.’, she signed.

‘i..’ after a long pause, she opened her mouth and tried to say ‘can talk.’

it didn’t sound like it. but it was the first time i heard her voice. it was heartwrenching.

Twittamentary!

after a hectic day at school with meetings and fyp (no surprises), i headed over to hackerspace for the screening of Twittamentary. it’s a pretty cosy (geeky) hangout place :p the event was pretty cool we could see our tweets ‘live’ on the big screen right beside the documentary.

basically Twittamentary, as its name suggests, is a documentary about twitter by tan siok siok. it was interesting to see how the function of twitter evolved from what the general public thinks - to be ‘updating everyone about what you’re doing every few seconds’ - to a tool to make greater contributions to humanity. such is the power of social media. yet, as information can be spread rapidly, MISinformation can too. that’s a thing to consider. really interesting documentary. really glad that i made it there today. :)
